8/5/2023

Chicago’s highly anticipated mural festival, Titan Walls, is set to return to District Brew Yards, promising a stunning showcase of creativity by 17 globally renowned and emerging muralists. Organized by the art activation agency Muros, the festival will commence on August 7th, with artists embarking on large-scale mural projects throughout West Town.

The festivities will culminate in an exciting community party on August 11th from 4 to 8 p.m., and again on August 12th, featuring music, delectable food, refreshing drinks, sponsored events, giveaways, interactive family-friendly activities, and the unveiling of the captivating Muros Beach House.

For art enthusiasts seeking a glimpse of the vibrant art evolution during the festival, maps pinpointing the mural locations will be available both online and at Titan Walls events. The main event, taking place from noon to 8 p.m. on August 12th, will be held at the inviting outdoor space between District Brew Yards and Altitude Trampoline Park. Free tickets and comprehensive information can be found on the Titan Walls website. The event attracts talent from all corners of the world, with over 400 artists applying each year to unleash their creativity on a monumental scale.

“When we first started Muros, one of the most exciting aspects of our work was watching murals come to life,” says Muros co-founder and president Tricia Binder. “To see large-scale art unfold is really special. We wanted to build an event that would invite the community to be a part of that impactful experience, while infusing other summertime passions into the mix – namely, music, beer, barbecue and sunshine.”

The 2023 lineup of Titans comprises a carefully curated and diverse group of nearly twenty muralists, including local talents like Sentrock and Blake Jones, national artists such as Mr. B Baby, and international standout Lula Goce, representing Spain. The main event will also feature the debut of the Muros Beach House, an immersive experience evoking the laid-back ambiance of a beach bar. Attendees can strike a pose on lifeguard chairs or coconut seats, indulge in a virgin piña colada, or leave a polaroid memento on the wall, savoring the last days of summer.

“We’re privileged to be able to invite these tremendous creators to our hometown. They are among the best and most badass artists in the world,” says Binder. “Some of them have a large following; others are a little more under the radar. But all of their talents are remarkable.” Beyond the main event on August 12th and the weeklong spectacle of live art creation, the Chicago festival offers an array of pop-up and collaborative happenings.

Starting August 9th, artist Blake Jones will showcase his skills by painting the recently launched eSprinter as part of the Mercedes-Benz activation. On August 10th, iconic Chicago Italian sub shop, JP Graziano, will unveil a custom “Titan Sub” at a shop-side pop-up designed exclusively for the festival. The delectable sub will be served in a stylish to-go bag adorned with stencils crafted by an on-site artist.

“It’s rare to experience art at this scale and even more unusual to have a full-fledged, free community celebration thrown into the mix,” says JP Kuster, senior marketing manager at Muros. “Whether you stop by for moments or settle in for hours, be ready to be inspired and wowed.”
