The Other Side Records: A Rock and Roll Haven in the Heart of Jerusalem

As a first-time visitor to Israel, it never occurred to me that I’d find a record store in such an old city. But I was proven wrong when I was out on a walk and stumbled upon a shop that truly embodied the rock and roll spirit. With The Cars blasting on the old Pioneer speakers, I was pulled in like a fat kid at a buffet.

Nestled in the heart of Jerusalem, The Other Side Records offers a haven for music enthusiasts seeking both new and pre-owned vinyl records. Located at 12 Shamai Street, this quaint and vibrant store has become a cherished spot for those looking to immerse themselves in music.

Inside, the store’s ambiance provided a refreshing escape from the daily hustle and bustle, inviting visitors to explore its diverse collection. Beyond vinyl records, The Other Side Records also offers turntables and audio accessories, catering to both seasoned audiophiles and newcomers to the vinyl scene. As I rummaged through stacks of records, I walked away with some rare AC/DC and Metallica vinyl— a victory for me and a loss for my checking account.

The store operates from Sunday to Thursday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Visitors can easily locate the store using its address or by navigating via online maps.

For those eager to stay updated on the latest arrivals and store events, The Other Side Records maintains an active presence on social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.

Whether you’re a lifelong vinyl collector or someone curious about the resurgence of records, The Other Side Records in Jerusalem provides a welcoming environment to discover and appreciate music in its timeless analog form. My time there was a highlight of my trip, proving that no matter where you are in the world, great music will always find you.
