“The Bronze Fonz” stands proudly along Milwaukee’s Riverwalk, a testament to the enduring legacy of the iconic character “The Fonz” from the beloved TV series, Happy Days. Crafted in bronze by artist Gerald P. Sawyer, this sculpture immortalizes Henry Winkler’s portrayal of Arthur Fonzarelli, capturing his signature two-handed thumbs-up gesture and cool demeanor.

Positioned just south of Wells Street, the statue serves as a nostalgic beacon for fans of the show and curious visitors alike. Its creation was made possible through the efforts of Visit Milwaukee, who rallied support and funding totaling $85,000.

Despite initial controversy over its proposed location, the statue found its rightful place on the Riverwalk after objections from some local figures. Since its unveiling on August 18, 2008, it has become a popular spot for tourists and locals alike, attracting admirers who often pose beside it for photos or simply enjoy lounging on the nearby patio furniture.

Join the ranks of those who pay homage to “The Fonz” by stopping by to snap a picture with this pop culture icon while exploring Milwaukee’s vibrant Riverwalk.
