Taste of River North 2026: Chicago’s Flashiest Street Feast Takes Over Wells Street
There’s a certain kind of Chicago summer magic that only happens when a street closes, grills fire up, and the bassline from a nearby stage hums through your chest like a second heartbeat. Taste of River North™ is that magic, bottled and poured out over Wells Street for two straight days.
Set between Ontario and Chicago Avenue (627 N. Wells, if you’re mapping your moves), this annual neighborhood throwdown returns Friday, July 17 from 5–10 p.m. and Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Presented by the River North Residents Association, it’s less a “festival” and more a curated collision of everything River North does best: bold flavors, stylish crowds, and a nightlife pulse that starts before sunset.
What You’re Eating (aka: the main event)
This is where River North flexes. Think steakhouse indulgence, late-night tacos, Mediterranean comfort, and global mashups all within a few steps of each other. Come hungry and a little indecisive.
Expect bites from:
Fogo de Chão Avli Lure Fishbar Mercadito Moe’s Cantina Seoul Taco Masala Pizza Ambar Chick-fil-A
It’s the kind of lineup where your “quick sample” turns into a full-blown tasting tour. No regrets, just stretchy pants energy.
Wine, But Make It a Moment 🍷
Friday night leans a little more grown-and-glowing with a wine tasting from 6–9:30 p.m.
$20 in advance / $25 at the door Includes 8 tastings
It’s less about swirling and more about sipping something cold while the city hums around you.
Yes, There’s a Dog Parade 🐾
Saturday morning kicks off with pure serotonin: a dog parade featuring up to 100 pups, each with their own strut. There’s a CPD K9 unit appearance, a Grand Marshal, and yes, every dog gets a goodie bag. Chicago loves its dogs like family, and this is basically their red carpet moment.
For the Kids (and the parents catching a breather)
The Kids Zone runs:
Friday: 5–8 p.m. Saturday: 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Think games, activities, and just enough distraction to let you sneak in another food run.
Music That Carries the Night
The soundtrack here doesn’t sit quietly in the background. It owns the street.
