Recently, I had a heartwarming conversation with my dear friend Kate Sladek. We share a special bond through our alma mater, Stagg Charger, and her husband, Brian Sladek. Kate graciously shared their poignant journey—how they found each other, their profound love for family, baseball, and the soul-stirring melodies of Pearl Jam. Their narrative is one of resilience, marked by the highs of triumphs and the lows of battling cancer. Despite Brian’s courageous struggle, he departed in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of fortitude that Kate carries forward with Sladeks Seeking Wellness.

Kate spoke earnestly about life alongside Brian and the remarkable initiative she’s spearheading—Recharging Wellness for Cancer THRIVORS retreat in Colorado this May. Here are the details:

Retreat: Recharging Wellness for Cancer THRIVORS.

Participants: Cancer THRIVORS, including patients, survivors, and their devoted caregivers or supporters.

Date: From the evening of Tuesday, May 21st, to the morning of Friday, May 24th.

Location: Lorrayne Ranch, nestled in the scenic beauty of Guffey, Southwest Colorado.

Accessibility: Conveniently located within 1.5 hours from Colorado Springs airport or less than 3 hours from Denver International Airport. Pro tip: Southwest now offers direct flights with fantastic fare deals from MDW to COS!

Accommodation: The ranch offers a serene backdrop for our retreat, with inclusive amenities comprising cozy lodging, wholesome meals, enriching content sessions, and a plethora of activities such as horseback riding, guided hikes, ATV tours, stargazing, and yoga sessions. Depending on availability, participants can opt for therapeutic sessions with a licensed clinical therapist or indulge in rejuvenating massages for an additional fee.

  • $500 per person for groups of 5 or more.
