Secret Byrd at Salvage One: A Candlelit Collision of Faith, Music, and Rebellion | Immersive Concert-Theatre Experience

Step inside a forgotten chapel of time—where rebellion brews, faith hides in shadow, and music becomes resistance. Salvage One, Chicago’s legendary architectural salvage haven, transforms into a clandestine sanctuary for Secret Byrd on July 20 & 21.

Brought to life by internationally renowned Concert Theatre Works, Secret Byrd is a fully immersive, five-senses experience that fuses Renaissance drama with soul-stirring choral music. You’ll be transported to 16th-century England, a time when Catholics risked everything to worship in secret—defying the crown with whispers, rituals… and music.

The hauntingly beautiful score of William Byrd, one of England’s most subversive composers, is performed by The Gesualdo Six, the acclaimed vocal ensemble from the UK. They’re joined by Chicago’s own Viol Medium and Second City Musick, with direction by Bill Barclay, and co-creation with Fretwork—under flickering candlelight, amidst Salvage One’s raw, reclaimed splendor.

This isn’t your average night out. It’s a concert wrapped in a play, a ritual cloaked in rebellion, a spiritual seance by way of sacred music.

Secret Byrd has captivated audiences in historic churches across London, Scotland, New York, Santa Fe, and beyond. Now, it lands in Chicago for just two nights.

🎟️ Tickets are limited. Step into the shadows—before the crown shuts the door.
