NEIGHBORHOOD 1, ROGERS PARK

By
7/18/2023

Rogers Park, the inaugural among Chicago’s 77 community areas, occupies a coveted spot approximately 9 miles (14 km) north of the Loop, nestled along the picturesque shoreline of Lake Michigan. Renowned for its cultural diversity, verdant public spaces, captivating early 20th-century architecture, vibrant live theater scene, eclectic bars and restaurants, inviting beaches, and progressive mindset, this neighborhood offers a remarkable tapestry of experiences.

Geographically, Rogers Park is encompassed by the city of Evanston, which adjoins along Juneway Terrace and Howard Street to the north, while Ridge Boulevard serves as its western boundary. To the south, it is bordered by Devon Avenue and the Edgewater neighborhood, while the eastern edge is gracefully embraced by the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan. Notably, the neighborhood immediately west of Rogers Park, once an integral part of the area until the 1890s, is still commonly referred to as West Rogers Park.
