Grammy Award-Winning Jazz Mixed With Visual Arts

Have you heard of Rendezvous Arts? No, well listen up!

In the spring of 2020, a group of artists came together to discuss the new reality of performing arts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together, they formed Rendezvous Arts—a not-for-profit organization centered on connecting people to the arts in a more visceral, informed experience to enrich the lives of the audience through personal interaction with artists, musicians, and one another.

This month, they’re warming things up this month with the Christian Dillingham Quartet! Grammy Award-winning bassist, Christian Dillingham, is equally at home in two musical worlds. His parents spun jazz records around the house, while his mother was an avid pianist who loved to play Chopin and Debussy. These childhood experiences left a deep impression and ended up as the foundational philosophy of his career in music. Dillingham is that rare musician who excels in an orchestral setting yet has an intuitive feel for nuance and the improvisational skills necessary to play jazz. The group will play tunes from his newly released album Cascades

The twist comes with Fiber artist Pat Kroth. Here creative process in her own words…

“I create entire surfaces of color using fiber and textural elements. Each work is then energetically machine-stitched. I truly feel that I am “painting” with fabric and thread.  I incorporate fabrics with interesting texture, color, or personal significance to include in my work … Sometimes the surface vibrates with colorful candy wrappers, found objects, or just the undulating exploration of color. Music, and/or personal experiences often provide the inspiration for my work. Cool jazz on a stormy winter night or perhaps a run or bicycle ride on a hot windy day, family, friends, a good book, a vivid lightning storm—any of these, all of these can become the catalyst for a new series of explorations.”
