What It's Like to Be A Professional Bull Rider? An Eye-Opening Conversation With Keyshawn Whitehorse

We’ve seen glimpses of it in movies and television shows. Yellowstone, anyone? But what really is Professional Bull Riding and what is it like to participate?

According to the Professional Bull Ride website (www.pbr.com), it’s headquartered in Pueblo, Colo., PBR was founded in 1992 by a group of 20 visionary bull riders who broke away from the traditional rodeo scene, seeking mainstream attention, new riches and a livelihood for future generations of cowboys for the most popular discipline in rodeo, bull riding.

But, what about the bull riders stories?

Known as “The pride of the Navajo Nation,” 2018 PBR Rookie of the Year Keyshawn Whitehorse broke through in 2020 and continued to reach new heights in 2021 and 2022. While Whitehorse has reached numerous milestones in his young career to date, including registering his first 90-point ride and event win on the elite circuit, one title has eluded him, that of PBR World Champion.
