Combining traditional Mexican and French baking at Pan Artesanal in Logan Square
With one of the most vibrant restaurant scenes in the world, Chicago masterfully weaves its 77 neighborhoods into a culinary tapestry that defines the Windy City’s unique flavor—capturing global attention along the way.
This rich blend of culture and tradition shines brightly at Pan Artesanal, a gem nestled in Logan Square.
Founded by sisters Lizette and Marisol Espinoza, Pan Artesanal celebrates the sisters’ deep connection to their Mexican heritage while embracing their passion for French pastries. Their menu beautifully marries the two influences, featuring standout creations like their signature guava and cheese pastry alongside beloved classics such as the concha monarca.
“Our family is from Morelia, Mexico. Baking and cooking have always been a part of our lives, and we wanted to honor those traditions by blending them with French baking techniques, adding our own family twist,” the Espinoza sisters explain.
The bakery itself is a visual homage to their roots, adorned with traditional Mexican colors and designs, including displays that celebrate the spirit of Día de los Muertos.
With an inviting menu of artisanal coffee, pastries, and sandwiches, Pan Artesanal caters to both sweet and savory cravings. The Espinoza family’s legacy of baking and cooking, rooted in Morelia, continues here—with family members actively involved in every aspect of the kitchen and business.
It’s this seamless fusion of time-honored family traditions and Chicago’s modern, dynamic culinary landscape that makes Pan Artesanal truly one-of-a-kind—a flavor experience you won’t find anywhere else.
