Every October, the Chicago Architecture Center takes immense pride in presenting Open House Chicago—a remarkable, free public festival that beckons enthusiasts to embark on self-guided journeys through Chicago’s rich history and awe-inspiring architecture. This exceptional event includes captivating talks and programming, along with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to sites that hold profound architectural, historical, and cultural significance throughout the city.

Open House Chicago stands as one of the world’s premier events of its kind. This year, the in-person site visits for Open House Chicago will take place on October 14 and 15. In addition to these site visits, OHC 2023 will also feature the OHC app, virtual programs, and special programming.

In 2023, our focus will extend to more than 20 distinct Chicago neighborhoods, showcasing over 170 sites that serve as windows into the heart of each community. Outdoor exploration will revolve around themes like neighborhood investment, community engagement, and historic preservation. Furthermore, we’ll provide valuable tips and itineraries for exploring the local shopping, dining, and other attractions in each neighborhood.
