Old Town Art Fair & Garden Walk
We’ve been waiting all winter for this type of weekend! Welcome to the 73rd Old Town Art Fair!
The Old Town Art Fair + Garden Walk in Chicago takes place this year on June 10 and 11 with 220+ nationally acclaimed artists and an estimated 30,000 art lovers in attendance throughout the weekend. The Old Town Art Fair began in 1950 and is one of the oldest in the country.
The Old Town Art Fair takes place on Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11, 2023, in the heart of the charming Old Town Triangle Historic District. There will be 200+ nationally acclaimed artists, an estimated 30,000 art lovers, a Garden Walk, Live Music, Food Court, and Children’s Corner. Gates open Saturday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, rain or shine.
This year’s poster was designed by Chicago-based painter Andrew Arkell. New this year is the Old Town Art Fair now sells vintage posters many of which have become collectibles.
“As with most of my paintings, the one used on this year’s poster contains subject matter that is rather ordinary and utilitarian, often overlooked by the general population. Almost anyone that’s taken public transportation in Chicago could tell you that it’s part of the EL, but they likely didn’t stand underneath and admire the shadows like I often do. Hopefully my paintings can help the viewer see and appreciate the beauty in these forms, shadow play, and moments of rust and decay. One aspect of my paintings viewers often comment on is the rust. That’s usually one of the last details I add and I think it really brings each painting to life. It also sells the realism a bit more, as there aren’t too many clean structures in Chicago.”
