Today’s story takes us to the west side of Chicago. We’re at the Lights Festival Float Headquarters for The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival! We had the incredible opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the parade staging area, meet Santa Claus himself, and even catch a glimpse of Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

The Wintrust Magnificent Mile Lights Festival® and Parade is back for its 33rd year on Saturday, November 23, 2024, officially kicking off the holiday season in Chicago.

What makes it special?

  • It’s the largest evening parade in the U.S., attracting nearly one million attendees annually.
  • This free, family-friendly celebration is packed with unforgettable experiences all day long!

The fun begins at 11:00 AM in Lights Festival Lane, featuring live entertainment, holiday treats, and interactive activities. Then, at 5:30 PM, the iconic parade rolls down Michigan Avenue, leading to the grand finale: The Wintrust Fireworks Spectacular at 7:00 PM.

What to expect in the parade:

  • Grand Marshals Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, straight from Walt Disney World® Resort, will light up the night, magically illuminating over one million lights across 200 trees along The Magnificent Mile.
  • A magical finale as Santa Claus makes his way down the route, riding Wintrust’s grand finale float, signaling the start of the season.
  • Incredible floats, towering helium balloons, talented marching bands, and show-stopping performances by musical celebrities.
