Joey's Food Fight To Cambodia

By
11/1/2022

Joey Morelli (owner of Max’s Deli in Highland Park and founder of Joey’s Food Fight), recently raised over $30,000 to support his 501(c)3 Joey’s Food Fight efforts of cooking across the globe to underserved communities and orphanages. And he wants to do it again!

He went to Cambodia in July to cook for the child residents of Hope House, a subsidiary of Hope for the Silent Voices, a not-for-profit organization that serves as a “voice for the vulnerable” providing resources and support to disadvantaged youth globally. Hope House serves as a boarding home for youth in Cambodia, and Morelli has worked with resident youth to grow, shop for, cook healthful meals, and build working kitchens for all those that reside there.

Morelli is planning on going to 10 countries in 10 years and will be returning to Cambodia again in January for five weeks to do more.

He’s hosting a fundraiser on November 1 in honor of el dia de Los Muertos (which happens to fall on the day of his Food Fight Fundraiser on November 1st) and his second mission trip to Mexico planned for Summer 2023, Joey will be making his Mexican Ibarra Chocolate Mousse Dessert (in a sweet tortilla cookie cup) with drunken berries.
