Neighborhood 16, Irving Park

Irving Park, one of Chicago’s 77 officially designated community areas, is nestled on the Northwest Side of the city. This charming neighborhood is framed by the scenic Chicago River to the east, the Milwaukee Road railroad tracks to the west, and extends from Addison Street in the south to Montrose Avenue in the north. Its western boundary stretches to encompass the area between Belmont Avenue in the south and roughly Leland Avenue in the north. The area is honored with the name of the renowned American author, Washington Irving.

The heart of Irving Park, known as Old Irving Park, boasts an array of diverse housing styles. Amidst its picturesque streets, one can find elegant Queen Anne, Victorian, and Italianate homes, a sprinkling of quaint farmhouses, and a host of cozy bungalows.

Residents and visitors alike benefit from convenient access to public transportation, as the CTA Blue Line gracefully passes through the neighborhood. Commuters can make use of well-placed stations at Addison, Irving Park, and Montrose, enhancing the area’s connectivity with the rest of the city.

With its captivating blend of history, architecture, and modern amenities, Irving Park stands as a vibrant and appealing community on the Northwest Side of Chicago.
