Home Run Inn Pizza and Chicago DFSS Deliver 5,000 Pizzas to Homeless Shelters
Home Run Inn Pizza, a Chicago institution known for its tavern-style thin crust pizza, and the city’s Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS) are spreading holiday cheer by distributing 5,000 pizzas to more than 30 homeless shelters.
The event will take place Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the original Home Run Inn location, 4254 W. 31st St.
“At Home Run Inn Pizza, we are truly thankful for the chance to give back to the Chicago community, particularly during the holiday season,” said Gina Perrino Bolger, senior vice president of Home Run Inn and a fourth-generation family member. “Our donations to local shelters are our way of sharing a little warmth and hope with those who need it most, and we are deeply honored to play a small part in bringing them joy.”
The event will feature appearances by Chicago’s Dreezy Claus and live entertainment from The Caroling Connection, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Founded in 1947, Home Run Inn Pizza is Chicago’s original tavern-style thin crust pizza, recognized for its signature hand-pinched crust, zesty sauce, abundant cheese, and homemade sausage. Originally a small tavern in the 1920s, the family-owned and operated company has grown into a regional favorite with nine locations across the Chicago area and a nationally ranked frozen pizza brand.
Home Run Inn Pizza is the Official Pizza of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field and is sold at Chicago’s Midway and O’Hare international airports. It is also the creator of National Tavern-Style Pizza Day.
