Groovin’ at GovState: Free Summer Concert Series Rocks Governors State University

Get ready to kick back and catch some serious summer vibes at Groovin’ at GovState, the free summer concert series tearing up the Outdoor Performance Area behind the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University in University Park, IL. From June 26 through August 14, every Thursday at 6 p.m., acclaimed local acts will light up the prairie–sculpture park nexus of GovState’s campus, blending live music with the iconic art installations of the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park (theNate).

Bring your lawn chair, snag a blanket, and groove under the open sky as GovState transforms into a must‑see University Park outdoor concert destination. Admission is completely free, and no RSVP is required—just show up ready to sway to funk, soul, rock, jazz, and more.
