Graveface Records and Curiosities in Bucktown is like no other store in Chicago, that’s for sure. It’s a spot that includes a record store, a horror shop, a museum of Roadside America, the occult, and the new home of a former neighborhood video store, Odd Obsession.

All from the mind and collection of Ryan Graveface.

“It’s not all about shock and horror, it’s more about education,” said Graveface.

Specifically referring to the John Wayne Gacy exhibit. He wanted to understand the bigger story about the Gacy story, and collecting the estates of many involved with the Gacy murders has helped him curate an accurate depiction of Gacy’s cell. It’s also given Graveface a better understanding of the entire case.

“I believe he’s killed over 100 people, he executed for only 33, there’s a lot more to the story we need to talk about,” said Graveface.

The jail cell is just part of the overall experience at Graveface, it’s a space for the curious person, a paradise of you well. Filled with oddities like a diaphonized animal, cult movie classics, materials that belonged to cult leaders and serial killers, an arcade, cocktail bitters, and movies and music from Graveface’s horror label, Terror Vision.

Truly, you can spend hours immersing yourself in this space, the extra fee to walk through the museum is worth every penny. You’ll see things related to Anton Lavey and the occult, a two-headed calf, a cyclops head and many others with the essence of education.

Learn what you don’t understand.
