Explore a Free Outdoor Bob Gasoi Gallery of Mural Fragments, Sculptures, and Bold Statements on Art
If you’re looking for a unique adventure, Cape Cod has plenty of hidden gems, and one stands out—a free art space tucked away in an alley on Commercial Street, just off Ryder. This vibrant alleyway is home to an eclectic collection of art, including jigsawed mural fragments by artist Bob Gasoi that originally decorated the old Shop Therapy store from 1987 to 2010.
Arnie Charnick, with help from Bo Johnson, has assembled a dynamic mix of mural remnants, metal sculptures, and paintings here. Among these works is a captivating series titled Alice Alas—ten 4x6 paintings inspired by Alice in Wonderland, each offering a surreal, dreamlike take on the classic story.
The rest of the collection includes playful parodies of classical art, provocative statements on nudity, and reflections on what society deems “obscene.” This free, open-air gallery is as thought-provoking as it is visually striking, inviting visitors to consider art in unexpected ways.
