Just after the holidays might have most people on a spending freeze. It’s the perfect opportunity to fully enjoy all the things that Chicago has to offer for free. Did you know that the Chicago Cultural Center is your free visual arts destination?

The center will simultaneously host four unique exhibitions with its latest exhibition “Exact Dutch Yellow” debuts, which is an immersive exhibition by Chicago-based collaborative Petra Bachmaier & Sean Gallero of Luftwerk.

The Luftwerk duo are SAIC alums who have exhibited internationally and locally (including Garfield Park Conservatory, EXPO, The 606 Trail, Arts Club Chi, Elmhurst Art Museum, etc.) that transform and sculpt spaces using light, color, and texture to shift the viewer’s perceptions of space and site, opening new conversations by inviting the public to experience the familiar transformed.

For “Exact Dutch Yellow,” the title referencing Chares Darwin’s taxonomic journey of naming natural colors of the world, Exhibit Hall will be converted into a series of immersive color and light installations using botanical colors in combination with color-changing light conditions that transform into abstracted, atmospheric experiences
