Our Story from the 78 is a burst of vibrant colors and flavors in the Jefferson Park neighborhood, where Delceria Lucy & Jaz, a Mexican candy store, has quickly become a local favorite. Offering an array of authentic Mexican sweets and treats, the shop is a celebration of tradition, culture, and family.

Located at 5255 N Central Ave., Delceria Lucy & Jaz welcomes customers with shelves lined with tamarind-laden candies, chocolate-covered confections, and tangy, spicy treats infused with chamoy and chili. From classic paletas (lollipops) to dulces enchilados (spicy candies), the store carries a variety of beloved Mexican brands such as Vero, De La Rosa, and Lucas. For many customers, the shop is a nostalgic trip back to their childhoods, filled with the flavors of Mexico.

The family-run shop also offers seasonal items and specialty goods, including piñatas, aguas frescas, and chamoyadas — refreshing frozen treats topped with chili and chamoy syrup. The colorful piñatas hanging from the ceiling and the upbeat music playing in the background add to the festive atmosphere, inviting visitors to linger and explore.

Jefferson Park residents have embraced Delceria Lucy & Jaz, praising the store for its warm hospitality and unique offerings. The shop has also drawn in customers from other neighborhoods eager to discover hard-to-find candies and snacks. It’s a spot that reminds me of when I was a kid, with a grandma living in the Little Village neighborhood. It brings back that sense of a neighborhood corner store.

Whether you grew up with these candies or are trying them for the first time, it’s about the love of being able to share this authentic experience.

With its growing popularity, Delceria Lucy & Jaz has become not just a candy store, but a destination for families and food lovers looking to experience a taste of Mexico right in the heart of Chicago.

The store is open every day but Sunday. Be sure to grab that perfect piñata for the holiday party!
