8/17/2023

The Art Center Highland Park proudly presents the third installment of its Summer Blockbuster Community Event, Draw Together, and this year’s edition is set to surpass all expectations. Tailored as a family-friendly affair, Draw Together is poised to captivate attendees with the region’s grandest chalk art drawing event, nestled within the Northshore. Alongside this, an open house will unfold, showcasing TAC’s diverse art classes catering to all ages and skill levels. Engaging hands-on demonstrations and an array of special events await.

Savor, Groove, and Delight: This year’s extravaganza boasts an assortment of delights, including delectable offerings from the renowned Fat Shallot food truck. The atmosphere will be set alive by a skilled DJ, harmonies resonating from the Bach to Rock Music School, and live performances by none other than Laura Doherty & The Heartbeats.

Laura Doherty & The Heartbeats, beloved in Chicago’s family music scene, are poised to serenade the young audience with their acoustic folk-pop melodies. Drawing from their trove of multi-award-winning tracks, including the latest gem “High Five,” the ensemble crafts a tapestry of buoyant and deeply resonant songs centered around themes of friendship, family, and the wonder of childhood.

Extra Treat: Enthusiastic young attendees will have the chance to personally meet Daisy, a cherished character from the PBS Daytime Emmy Award Winning show, Nature Cat!

Every contribution from Draw Together will play an instrumental role in fostering art education initiatives at TAC. As a stalwart 63-year-old not-for-profit organization, TAC channels funds into scholarships, supplies, outreach efforts, and the facilitation of over 300 classes, which collectively amass more than 2,400 enrollments each year.

Dedicated to cultivating artistic exploration and discovery, The Art Center Highland Park stands as a North Shore beacon of creativity. The institution extends a warm invitation to its diverse communities, providing innovative programs, exhibitions, and classes tailored to individuals of all ages and proficiency levels.

Mark Your Calendar: Draw Together unfolds on Saturday, August 19, from 11 AM to 3 PM, at The Art Center Highland Park, located at 1957 Sheridan Road, Highland Park, IL. Admission is free, and in the event of rain, the festivities will be rescheduled for Sunday, August 20.
