Disney's Beauty And The Beast
Chicago Shakespeare Theater invites audiences of all ages to experience the enchanting world of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, a 75-minute family musical production directed and choreographed by the talented Amber Mak. This dazzling show, featuring beloved music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and a book by Linda Woolverton, promises to captivate young hearts and introduce them to the magic of live theater.
Set in the Courtyard Theater, the production boasts stunning numbers, including the iconic title song and the mesmerizing “Be Our Guest,” leaving audiences in awe. Running from July 14 to August 20, 2023, there are multiple performance options on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m., Thursdays-Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. After each performance, the cast members, donning enchanting costumes, warmly welcome audiences in the lobby for engaging conversations, autographs, and memorable photos.
Stepping into the titular roles are the talented Audrey Hare as Belle and the compelling Jason Michael Evans as the Beast. Bringing the Beast’s magical castle to life are Christopher Kale Jones as Lumiere, James Earl Jones II as Cogsworth, Harriet Nzinga Plumpp as Madame de la Grande Bouche, Rebecca Prescott as Mrs. Potts, Maya Rowe as Babette, and Evie Hsu and Layla Joan alternating as Chip.
Under Amber Mak’s masterful direction and choreography, the production features an impressive creative team, including Music Director Charlotte Rivard-Hoster, Scenic Designer Jeffrey D. Kmiec, Costume Designer Theresa Ham, Lighting Designer Jason Lynch, Projection Designer Mike Tutaj, and Sound Designer Sarah Ramos, among others.
