BLACKOUT: Chicago’s Most Terrifying Haunted Adventure Returns in Total Darkness

If you’ve ever wondered what pure fear feels like… try walking straight into it.

The masterminds at Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, creators of the legendary 13th Floor Chicago, are flipping the lights off early this year with their wildly anticipated Blackout event, hitting May 29–30. And this isn’t your typical haunted house stroll. This is something else entirely.

Picture this: you step inside, and suddenly, darkness swallows everything. Not dim lighting. Not shadows. Total blackout.

Your group gets one glowstick. That’s it. One fragile little beam of hope to guide you through a maze of things you definitely don’t want to meet. And here’s the twist, the monsters can see it too. If they take it from you… well, now you’re really in trouble.

Blackout leans hard into the unknown, turning your imagination into the scariest thing in the building. Every sound hits louder. Every step feels riskier. Every corner feels like it’s watching you back.

“We’re so excited to celebrate Halfway to Halloween with this Blackout event,” says General Manager Erika Daybrook. “It’s the perfect build-up to the season and a taste of what’s coming this fall.”

And once you make it out… if you make it out… the night keeps going. There’s themed food and drinks (yes, liquid courage is available), eerie photo ops, and bonus experiences like mini escape games and bar packages to keep the adrenaline pumping.

🎟️ Tickets start at $29.99, but consider it a small price for bragging rights… or therapy later.

⚠️ Fair warning: this one isn’t for the faint of heart or kids under 12.
