The Fully Interactive Pop-Up Restaurant Inspired By The Iconic Show Opens to the Public May 10th

4/12/2023

WICKER PARK:

Thank you for being a friend! The Golden Girls Kitchen is thrilled to announce that beginning, Wednesday, May 10th, fans can enjoy the ultimate “The Golden Girls”-themed dining experience in Chicago (1367 N Milwaukee Ave,). The fully immersive pop-up restaurant jet sets fans of all ages to 1980s Miami, safely transporting them into the world of their favorite golden gals. Tickets for the restaurant are available to the public starting Wednesday April 12th exclusively through Bucket Listers.

The Golden Girls Kitchen will be a fast-casual restaurant with an emphasis on (you guessed it) desserts. Every ticket purchase will include a reserved seat and guaranteed window of time to dine, a choice of an entree, and most importantly, cheesecake.

The concept is the brainchild of Bucket Listers (the brand behind the popular Chicago Bucket List known for showcasing the best things to do in the city) and spearheaded by their VP of Experiences, Derek Berry (the mastermind behind nostalgic pop-up phenomenon Saved by the Max, Good Burger, and The Peach Pit). The Golden Girls Kitchen transports guests the moment they walk through the doors into the world of this endearing fan favorite.

“Bucket Listers is honored to bring The Golden Girls Kitchen to the Windy City, after our sold-out runs in LA and New York,” says VP of Experiences Derek Berry. “ It’s also a homecoming to where my journey into the experiential industry first began. Since the debut of Chicago’s Saved By The Max back in 2016 I’ve always dreamt of bringing another beloved pop-up concept home. I cannot wait for the city to see what we have in store..”

The menu invites guests to nosh on the likes of Sophia’s Lasagna Al Forno (meat or vegan), plus other menu items like The Lanai: A “Miami style” Cuban Sandwich, Blanche’s Georgia Style Cookie, and the Bacon Lettuce Potato Sandwich (Say It Fast). Perhaps most importantly, there will be cheesecake in a variety of flavors. If you want to upgrade your dessert, try the Spierheoven Krispies (also available vegan) which includes strawberry cheesecake and chocolate ice cream. All of these delectable mains, sides, and sweets will be served by a lovable Shady Pines waiter.

Additionally, the pop-up will come complete with a variety of iconic photo moments for fans to play in the world of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sofia. Cozy up to the kitchen table, grab some sun on the Lanai or snap a selfie in front of everyone’s favorite banana leaf print. Take a spin through Shady Pines on your way to the popup store featuring a range of brand-new “The Golden Girls” merchandise — no layover in St. Olaf required.
